Teige Rederi

Teige Rederi  owns and operates MS Sunny Lady

Sunny Lady is a combined trawler and ring-net boat with quotas for pelagic fishing. The vessel is built as a multifunctional ship and, in addition to traditional fishing, can also be used for offshore and research missions.

Developed with a focus on the environment and sustainability, the vessel has a modern propulsion system that allows it to sail on LNG, diesel and battery. The vessel is also certified as a cargo ship and is reinforced to be able to operate in icy waters.

MS Sunny Lady

Sunny Lady is 86 metres long and 18 metres wide — one of Norway's largest and most modern fishing vessels, where environmental concerns and technological innovation are at the centre.

The vessel was designed and developed by Salt Ship Design, and the name Sunny Lady is taken from a former LNG vessel that has belonged to Teige Rederi.

The vessel is optimised for energy-efficient operation and is equipped with a 350 cubic metre LNG tank, diesel engine and a powerful battery pack. The hybrid propulsion system combines mechanical and diesel-electric technologies, providing both flexibility and reduced environmental footprint.

Sunny Lady represents an important step in Teige Rederi's commitment to sustainable fisheries and modern fleet development.

The Teige rederi in Fosnavåg can write its history all the way back to 1915.

1914

The beginning of Teigenes Rederi

The foundation for what would later become Teigenes Rederi was laid on Nerlandsøya in Herøy. In 1914, Karl Teige, together with his sons – Karl, Lars, Isak, Knut, Antoni, Elias, and Bernhard – built the new vessel Kaston, a 40-foot fishing boat. Already the following year, a new boat, Delfin, measuring 42 feet, was added. Both vessels were built at Brastad in Romsdal.

1947

The first "Teigenes"

In 1947, Terje and Kåre Teige, together with their cousin Karl A. Teige, contracted the very first “Teigenes” – a 71.5-foot fishing vessel. The boat was built at Hellands Boatyard and equipped with an Alpha diesel engine producing 130 horsepower.

1957

The second “Teigenes”

In 1957, Teigenes Rederi received its first steel vessel. This was the second boat in the "Teigenes"-series. The hull was built by J. Johannesen Welding Workshop in Brattvåg, while Brattvåg Ship Interiors handled outfitting and completion. The vessel cost around 750,000 kroner, was 99.5 feet long, and was equipped with an Alpha diesel engine producing 310 horsepower.

1966

The third “Teigenes” – the first yellow one

In 1966, the third vessel in the Teigenes rederi was introduced, and it was the first to be painted yellow. The vessel was delivered by Hatlø Shipyard in Ulsteinvik and cost around 2,500,000 kroner. It was 139.5 feet long, had a cargo capacity of 4,500 hectoliters, and was equipped with an Alpha diesel engine producing 880 horsepower.

1985

The fourth “Teigenes”

The vessel was delivered by Drammen Slip & Workshop in Drammen. It cost 35 million kroner to build, was 57.2 meters long, and had a cargo capacity of 13,000 hectoliters. It was equipped with a Bergen Diesel engine producing 3,000 horsepower.

2002

Teigebris AS is established.

In 2002, the shipping company, through Teigebris AS, acquired the majority of shares in the purse seiner MS “Sjøbris.”

2005

The fifth “Teigenes”

The hull of the fifth Teigenes is being built in Olentia, Romania, while outfitting and completion are carried out at Northern Shipyard in Gdansk. The vessel has a construction cost of around 130 million kroner and measures 75.4 by 15.6 meters. It has a cargo capacity of 2,000 cubic meters and is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system – a combination of mechanical and diesel-electric drive.

2018

Teigenes AS and Teigebris AS are being split.

Knut Teige takes over Teigenes AS, and Sigurd Teige takes over Teigebris AS. In connection with this, Sigurd Teige establishes Teige Rederi, and Sansibar Holding is created as the parent company for the shipping operations. At the same time, the fishing vessel “MS Haugagut” is purchased and renamed “MS Leikvin.”

2019-2023
