The foundation for what would later become Teigenes rederi was laid on Nerlandsøya in Herøy. Karl Teige, together with his sons, built the fishing vessel Kaston, and already the following year they built another boat, Delfin.
Delfin was in many ways a pioneering vessel, developed in step with emerging needs. It was, among other things, the first fishing boat in the area to have electric lighting and its own baiting house. During the war, it was chartered by the British Navy and used for transport, and when the war ended, it returned to fishing operations.
In 1947, Terje and Kåre Teige, together with their cousin Karl A. Teige, contracted the very first “Teigenes” – a 71.5-foot fishing vessel.
